In home maternity photography session
Every in home photography session starts best with photos of the cats. I went to Rachael and Mark’s home in Witham St Hughes and was immediately drawn towards the two gorgeous cats, I couldn’t have gotten my camera out quicker!
Anyway, the real reason I was there was to get some maternity photographs for Rachael and Mark who are expecting their baby very soon!
Being pregnant can be a nerve wracking time, especially for a first time mum, and being in front of the camera isn’t everybody’s idea of relaxing so to be in your own home whilst being photographed is a much less scary experience for many people. In home photography sessions can also add extra sentimental value to the images with your own home as the backdrop. Plus there’s the bonus of the fur babies getting involved too (I’m not saying they are any better than outdoors or studio shoots, they are just completely different and these are the reasons I love them!).
Here are some of my favourite images from the session. This session is the first part of two. I am also meeting Rachael in the woods to do some pregnancy shots of herself on her own, so keep an eye out for those in a later blog.
Edited to add - We had to reschedule the second session and Rachael gave birth to baby Sienna the day before our session.
We then wandered outside to a nearby wooded area close to their home in the village.
If you’re considering a maternity photography session, whether it be in your own home, outdoors, or any other location for that matter, I’d love to chat about your ideas. I recommend for most ladies shooting at around 32-36 weeks so you’ve got a decent bump but you’re not uncomfortable at posing. Let’s capture these exciting times and you’ll look back at them with nostalgia.
