Lincolnshire documentary wedding photography at Somerton Castle - Sophie & James

Sophie & James had a beautiful May wedding at Somerton Castle, near Navenby in Lincolnshire. This property is owned by James’ parents so it was an especially beautiful touch to not only have the wedding at James’ family home, but also a wedding completely different to anybody elses’ wedding. It was completely DIY and they had put so much effort and thought into every aspect of the day, and pulled it all off perfectly. The ceremony was in a stunning restored tower, it was very intimate and you could just feel that the love filled the whole room. Nobody is getting distracted at the back as they can’t hear, it felt like the whole room was completely involved in the whole ceremony.

The rest of the day was in a new part of the property that was perfect for a wedding reception, plenty of space for dancing and a separate upstairs area for the food and speeches, so nobody had to do any room changing around during the wedding. They had an ace band, the Warning Tones, who i’ve seen at a few weddings now and they always play classics and know how to fill the dance floor!

Here are some of my favourites from their superb DIY wedding.

The known suppliers were:

I like to include a lot of photographs in my blogs, rather than just selecting the absolute best few, to give viewers a good overview of the wedding gallery, so you’ll find images from each part of the day. Please do scroll down to see photos from the wedding ceremony, drinks reception, speeches, relaxed portraits of the couple and the party, after the prep and pre ceremony photos.

This is still only roughly 10% of the full wedding gallery.

Please get in touch if you’d like me to be your Lincolnshire wedding photographer. I also travel and love getting around the UK to photograph weddings.
