Newark wedding photography, Averham Church & marquee reception - Melissa & Luke

Oh covid, you got me.

Melissa & Luke’s wedding looked like sooo much fun. I say ‘looked like’ because unfortunately I couldn’t actually be there myself, I had covid. Luckily another photographer (Ami Ford) stepped in for me last minute to associate shoot the wedding, and Anete who I already had booked as second shooter, helped her along the way. I admit it was very strange being at home knowing that there was a wedding going on that I should have been photographing but thankfully Ami saved the day!

During the pandemic this situation has arisen a lot. It was something I hoped wouldn’t happen to me but when it did happen I was very lucky and grateful to find Ami, who was very local to this wedding. I was also extremely lucky that it only affected one wedding for me. If I’d tested positive a few days later I would have missed three weddings. Phew! I was also kind of glad to have some immunity for the rest of the wedding season as it is a covid risk going to lots of weddings. As much as we can try to keep a distance and wear a mask we still need to be able to do our job to the same ability. Us photographers have supported each other and stepped in last minute to help each other out, I feel the photography community has really come together. I have associate shot a couple of weddings myself this year and second shot last minute when other second shooters have had to isolate.

So, in this situation the associate photographer attends the wedding and then send off their raw files to the main photographer to edit and carry on with the booking as normal. It was really exciting editing the photographs, not knowing what was coming up next.
